Chronic Kidney Disease Treatment

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition in which kidney function decreases over time.

Kidneys act like a filter for our bodies, and when kidney function decreases, your body’s ability to rid itself of waste products and extra fluids is decreased.

Some risk factors for CKD include, but are not limited to:

  • Diabetes

    • High blood pressure (hypertension)

    • Glomerulonephritis

    • Kidney stones

    • Inherited diseases

    • Certain medications

  • Fatigue
  • Decreased appetite
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Foot and ankle swelling
  • Change in urinary habits

Our goal at California Kidney Specialists is to prevent Chronic Kidney Disease and slow its progression to avoid initiation of dialysis.
